  1) Giraffes can be found in central, eastern and southern Africa.

  2) Giraffes live in the savannas of Africa, where they roam freely among tall trees, and land,dense forests and open plains.

  3) Today, the only naturally-occurring lions arc found in Africa.

  4) Elephants can live in nearly any habitat that has adequate quantities of food and water. Their ideal habitat consists of plentiful grass.

  5) Dolphins are able to dive to great depths, and also leap to great heights.

  6) Koalas prefer to live in eucalyptus forests, on coastal islands, and low woodlands.

  7) Kangaroos arc found in Australia and Tasmania, as well as on the surrounding islands.

  8) Kangaroos live in varied habitats, from forests and woodland areas to grassy plains and savannas.

  1) Lions feed on a variety of large and medium-sized prey.

  2) Giraffes" long necks help them to eat leaves on tall trees, typically acacia trees.

  3) Elephants consume about 5% of their body weight and drink 30一50 gallons of water per day.

  4) Young elephants must learn how to draw water up with their trunks and pour it into their mouths. They eat an extremely varied vegetarian diet including grass. leaves. twigs, bark, fruitand seed pods.

  5) The staple food of dolphins is fish and shrimps. They eat their fish whole, head first. Koalas consume eucalyptus leaves and bark from 12 different eucalyptus tree species.

  7) Kangaroos" diet consists mainly of grass. They can survive long periods without water.


  6、动物的习性

  1) Lions are the only cats that live in large family groups.

  2) The giraffe is non-territorial and social; it lives in very loose and open herds with no specific leaders or coordination of herd movement.

  3) Elephants are social and form small family groups consisting of an older matriarch and several generations of relatives.

  4) Dolphins are highly sociable animals, living in pods which are fairly fluid.

  5) Koalas have soft. wool-like fur that is grey above and white below. They arc rather small,round animals.

  6) Kangaroos live and travel in organised groups or "mobs", dominated by the largest male.

  1) Lions" size and strength have captured human imagination since ancient times. They arcnick named "King of the Beasts".

  2) Giraffes are magnificent in appearance, bizarre in form, unique in gait, and inoffensive in character.

  3) Dolphins have a universal appeal, symbolising freedom, joy, grace and serenity. They uplift the spirits of many people all around the world.

  4) The African elephant is the largest living land mammal.

  5) Of all its specialised features, the muscular trunk is perhaps the most extraordinary. It serves asa nose, hand, extra foot, signaling device and tool for gathering food, siphoning water, dusting,and digging.

  6) Koalas sleep for up to 16 hours a day. They do not live in big groups but rather prefer to be alone.

  7) Kangaroos have powerful hind legs and short forelimbs. Kangaroos can travel at speeds up to30 miles per hour and can leap some 30 feet. Kangaroos use their long tails for balancing.

  8) Female kangaroos carry their newborns in a pouch on the front of their abdomens.
