Describe a work of art you have seen(e.g. a painting or statue/sculpture).

You should say:

when you (first) saw this work of art,

where you saw it,

what it looked like,

and explain your feeling about this work of art.

题目分析：题目要求描绘一个艺术品(画或雕塑)，建议 1描述一幅画(可以是名品，也可以是熟人画的)2 描述一个照片(可以是自己拍的或别人拍的) 这2种方案比较好讲，也可以讲其他例如：雕塑，书法作品(calligraphy)，古诗(poem)。

下面以一副名画，梵高的星空为例。(the masterpiece from Van Gogh, The Starry night)，例子语言较难，希望大家认真练习，或先结合自己的情况自己写一次。

1 这幅画的来历。(生日，朋友，含义，珍贵)————Well, this painting was given by one of my friends when I was about to graduate in university, he was a quite intimate friend to me, thus sending me this painting with some specific meanings based on his understanding of me. (这句语法较难)。这幅画给人一种和平温暖的感觉，不过画里is filled with sorrows, 觉得符合我的心情… / 送我画的时候还写了一些wishes/ 难忘的生日珍贵的朋友。

2 这幅画的描述和给我的感觉。大小：it covers close to one third of my wall, therefore, it decorates my bedroom and enlighten the whole atmosphere of my room. 颜色，感觉： it was mainly in blue and other colors close to blue, that’s why it displays peace and sorrow . Sometimes I stare at it for long, I am absorbed in it(沉浸在里面)and it changes my mood.

3 关于梵高。—— Actually I do cherish this painting also because of Van gogh, he’s one of my favourite artists. 印象派(the representative and an outstanding artist of impressionist)。悲惨的经历，杰出的作品(miserable life yet remarkable achievement in art) 忧郁，疯狂，割耳，自杀(he suffered from deep depression and loneliness all his life, in the later years he was insane and kept in the mental hospital….顺便说一下他还有其他的出色的作品：向日葵等。

1) 写实，more realistic in depiction; e.g. painting of landscape and people, 2)写意，not that realistic, but intend to express more about the ideas in the painting; 内容关注社会，思考生命的意义，这是受历史和儒道的影响。

<4> Are there many art exhibition in your country?

1)其实不多，只在发达城市较多。

Describe a picture or photograph in your family/a picture or photo you like most.

You should say:

What is in the picture

Where this picture is in your home

and explain why you think this picture is meaningful

首先可以介绍照片的内容、人物、拍摄地、以及拍摄照片的原因。

其次谈谈自己为什么喜欢这张照片，它有什么独特之处。

例如：这是的一张哭丧着脸的照片、这是第一张与家人的合照等等。

There is a picture of my mother father and myself when I was a baby. We had been at the photo studio all day long and like every child I hated taking pictures. I was annoyed and there was no way the photographer was going to get me to smile. As a result, my mother and father were standing and I was sitting there pouting. It"s just so cute!

I like it because it is unique. I use self-timer taking pictures and smile all the time although I am not photographic, but this is the only one I was pouting with silly face. Also, it was the first time I took a picture in a photo studio with my family, so it was a memorabilia experience for me and my family. Moreover, such an old picture can reminds me of the childhood happiness which is being a stupid kid doing whatever I want. Now, I have already hung this family picture in the dining room so I can see it all the time.

最喜欢的一张照片：我和家人的照片。

首先介绍照片的拍摄时间、地点和拍照人：2003年的夏天，拍摄于医院(引出悬念，使人好奇为什么会在医院拍照)

进一步做出解释：父亲得了鼻咽癌，并且是晚期，但与病魔坚决做斗争(with strong determination),最终奇迹般康复了，因此全家在医院拍照作为留念。

最后，强调照片为什么特别：因为每次看到照片就会想起父亲说过，无论面对什么困难挑战，都要坚强面对。(升华主题)

Speaking of a photo，I would like to talk about a photograph of me and my family.

It was taken in a summer in 2003. The background of the photo is a radiological ward(放射病房). My parents and I was sitting on the bed and wearing a happy smile. The photo was taken by a ward nurse. You may be curious about why we choose to take a photo in a hospital.

I know, hospital is not supposed to be an ideal location for people to take photos. But this photo means a lot to our family. At that time，my father was diagnosed (诊断)with a severe disease nasopharyngeal carcinoma(鼻咽癌). It was a kind of cancer. What made me even fear was that the doctor said that was a terminal cancer. You can imagine how helpless and despairing (感到绝望的)I felt at that time. My mum and I was so desperate that we can not help weeping. But my father always had a positive attitudes and fight off(战胜) the disease with strong determination. He believed that as long as a person has a positive faith，he or she will survive.

3 months later，my father restored(恢复) to health and created a miracle. On the date he left the hospital， he thought out of an idea that we should take a photo of the whole family in the ward.

It is definitely a special photo for me. Every time I picked up this photo， I will remember what my father said to me. He told that we should never give up no matter what difficulties or challenges we encounter. As long as we become strong， persistent(坚持不懈的) and perseverant, we can conquer any problems and end up succeeding.

Describe a photo or painting you like in your home.

You should say:

where and when the photo was taken or painted

which room it is in

what there are in the photo or painting

and explain why you like it.

Actually, I have a few paintings in my home. My girlfriend says it’s beginning to look like an art gallery! I guess you could call me a bit of an art-aholic, though I’m certainly no connoisseur.

By far my favourite piece is a large oil painting on canvas that I picked up on my travels in Bali. I had to roll it up to get it back to China and once I got home I had a bespoke frame made for it. It depicts a tree or plant of some sort, using an array of colours, from deep blues to vivid yellows. The image is very simple, being formed from a number of different coloured dots.

At the moment it is the centerpiece of my living room, takes pride of place on the main wall behind my sofa. There are other pieces of art in there, including some small statues and figurines, but they are eclipsed by the large oil painting, which truly dominates the room. Every guest we have visit passes comment on it, often complimenting its vibrant colours or simple aesthetic beauty.

For me personally, it’s a combination of all the things I have already mentioned. Plus, it reminds me of the places I have been and the things I have experienced on my trips abroad. The memories come flooding back every time l look at my picture. This is the primary reason I collect paintings and the reason I have more works of art than I do wall space!
